Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Bougmez Valley – Azib Ikkis

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Marrakech to the Happy Valley of Aït Bougmez, passing through Azilal and the Tizi n’Tirghist mountain pass. From there, the trek starts toward the Arous Valley and the summer pastures of Azib Ikkis.

• 🚌 Drive: ~5 hours

• 🚶‍♂️ Hike: ~2.5 hours | +500 m

• 🏕️ Overnight: Tents at Azib Ikkis (2250 m)

Day 2: Azib Ikkis – Tarkeddit Pass – Tarkeddit Plateau

Ascend to the impressive Tarkeddit Pass (3400 m) with panoramic views of the M’Goun range. Descend to the high plateau often visited by nomadic shepherds from the region.

• 🚶‍♂️ Hike: ~5.5 hours | +1050 m / -500 m

• 🏕️ Overnight: Tents on the Tarkeddit Plateau (2900 m)

Day 3: Tarkeddit – Summit of Mount M’Goun – Oulilimt Springs

The highlight of your journey: summiting Mount M’Goun (4071 m), Morocco’s second-highest peak. After conquering the summit, descend through rugged terrain to the peaceful Oulilimt valley.

• 🚶‍♂️ Hike: ~9 hours | +1170 m / -1470 m

• 🏕️ Overnight: Tents near Oulilimt Springs (2600 m)

Day 4: Oulilimt – Aflafel Source

Today’s hike leads you along a lush valley dotted with semi-nomadic Aït Atta camps. The trail follows the river toward the scenic Aflafel spring, where you can enjoy some peaceful downtime.

• 🏕️ Overnight: Tents near Aflafel spring (2200 m)

Day 5: Aflafel – M’Goun Valley – Imi n’Irkt

Follow the M’Goun river through valleys rich in walnut trees and Berber agriculture. Stop for lunch in the beautiful village of Taghreft before arriving at Imi n’Irkt, the symbolic “gate of the gorges.”

Day 6: Imi n’Irkt – M’Goun Gorges – Tiranimine – Aguerzegua

Trek through the narrow and winding M’Goun Gorges, one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural wonders. You’ll walk in and out of the river, a refreshing experience especially in summer. The day ends in the village of Aguerzegua.

Day 7: Aguerzegua – Boutaghrar – Kelaa M’Gouna

Conclude your trekking journey by walking toward Boutaghrar and arriving in the famed Valley of Roses. Transfer to a local hotel in Kelaa M’Gouna for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Kelaa M’Gouna – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

On your return journey, pass through Ouarzazate with a stop in Kelaa M’Gouna, known for its annual Rose Festival. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon—your epic journey with Trekking Atlas Mountains ends here.
