The M’Goun massif offers a breathtaking variety of landscapes: traditional Berber villages blending into the mountainsides, nomadic shepherds crossing vast plateaus, and the towering summit of Mount M’Goun (4071 m), Morocco’s second-highest peak. Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Bougmez Valley – Azib Ikkis
Departure from Marrakech at 8:00 AM, passing through Azilal and the mountain pass of Tizi n’Tirghist to reach the Happy Valley of Aït Bougmez.
Begin the trek through lush fields and traditional villages toward Arous Valley and the summer pastures of Ikkis n’Arous.
Driving time: ~5 hours | Hiking time: ~2.5 hours
Ascent: +500 m
Overnight: Tents at Azib Ikkis (2250 m)
Day 2: Ikkis n’Arous – Tarkeddit Pass (3400 m) – Tarkeddit Plateau
Ascend to the high Tarkeddit Pass (3400 m) with panoramic views of the M’Goun range.
Descend to the Tarkeddit Plateau, often occupied by nomadic herders.
Hiking time: ~5.5 hours
Ascent: +1050 m | Descent: -500 m
Overnight: Tents on the plateau (2900 m)
Day 3: Tarkeddit – Summit of Mount M’Goun (4071 m) – Oulilimt Springs
A long and rewarding day, summiting Mount M’Goun (4071 m)—the highest peak of the Central Atlas.
Stunning panoramic views of distant valleys (Drâa, Dadès, etc.)
Descend through rugged terrain to the Oulilimt area.
Hiking time: ~9 hours
Ascent: +1170 m | Descent: -1470 m
Overnight: Tents (2600 m)
Day 4: Oulilimt Springs – Aflafel Source
Continue along the Oulilimt Valley, where semi-nomadic tribes (Aït Atta) from the Saghro mountains pitch their seasonal camps.
Follow the river through magnificent gorges and valleys to the Aflafel spring.
Hiking time: ~4.5 hours
Overnight: Tents near Aflafel spring (2200 m)
Afternoon: Free time for rest or exploration
Day 5: Aflafel – M’Goun Valley – Imi n’Irkt
Hike along the M’Goun river valley, passing traditional Berber villages, cultivated terraces, and walnut orchards.
Enjoy lunch in the beautiful village of Taghreft, before continuing to Imi n’Irkt, meaning “gate of the gorges.”
Hiking time: ~5.5 hours
Overnight: Tents near Imi n’Irkt
Day 6: Imi n’Irkt – M’Goun Gorges – Tiranimine – Aguerzegua
Trek through the narrow gorges of M’Goun, often wading through cool river water—especially refreshing in summer.
Enjoy a scenic lunch break by the Ifasfas source.
Continue to the Berber village of Aguerzegua.
Hiking time: ~6 hours
Descent: -500 m
Overnight: Tents near Aguerzegua
Day 7: Aguerzegua – Boutaghrar – Kelaa M’Gouna
After breakfast, trek toward Boutaghrar, with lunch en route.
End the hiking portion in the Valley of Roses, and transfer to a hotel in Kelaa M’Gouna.
Overnight: Hotel in Kelaa M’Gouna
Day 8: Kelaa M’Gouna – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Morning drive back to Marrakech, via Ouarzazate.
Stop in Kelaa M’Gouna, known worldwide for its Rose Festival (held annually in early May).
Driving time: ~6.5 hours
Arrival in Marrakech by late afternoon—End of our services.
